Wreckers Inspire New Generation Of Bridgeport Players
The Wreckers are winners — on and off the field.
On Friday — just hours before their FCIAC semifinal match against Greenwich — the Staples soccer team traveled to Bridgeport.
They spent an hour with boys and girls in the GZS (Generation Z Soccer). They helped with training, shared a meal, and donated soccer gear.
The high schoolers had as much fun as the youngsters.
Lucas Alarcon has volunteered with GZS for several years. He and his family helped organize the event.
Perhaps it inspired him. The next day, Lucas scored a rare “Olimpico” — a corner kick that goes directly into the goal — that was the game-winner against the Cardinals.
Wreckers, and new fans.
