4 Wreckers Named To Norwalk Hour All-Area Team

Michael Reid, Patrick Beusse, Nate Argosh and Gabe Pensak have picked up new post-season honors.

Reid and Beusse have been selected for the Norwalk Hour‘s All-Area 1st team. Argosh and Pensak are honorable mention picks. All are seniors

The All-Area team includes players from Brien McMahon, Norwalk, Staples, Wilton and Weston High Schools, plus Greens Farms Academy.

The writeup on Reid calls him “the field general of the Wreckers, who was instrumental in Staples’ improbable post-season run in 2014. A 3-year varsity member and 2-year starter who would always seem to deliver the ball where it needed to go….Finished with a goal and 4 assists but meant so much more to Staples than just numbers….Despite playing banged up for most of the season, never missed a game.”

Beusse, the Hour said, “Rounded out his final high school campaign on a high note. A 3-year varsity member and 2-year starter who was adept at playing both ways as he was a tough defender yet attacked the flanks extremely well….’He gave us everything he had every time he stepped on the field,’ (head coach) Dan Woog said. (He added that) Beusse would do anything to help his team win.”

The All-Area Most Valuable Player was Jose Canahui, the Norwalk defender who scored a late free-kick goal in the Bears’ 1-0 victory over Staples early in the season. The honorable mention team included Griffin Garner, a Greens Farms Academy senior who lives in Westport.

Last spring, Patrick Beusse and Michael Reid helped lead a mentorship program for younger players.
