Staples Soccer’s 60th Celebration Is Saturday. All The Details Are Here!

Less than 1 week remains before Staples soccer’s ginormous 60th anniversary celebration. Over 100 former Wrecker players have already RSVP’ed. They’re coming from as far as California, and from the earliest teams to the most recent.

The weekend kicks off this Friday (October 12) with a 7:30 pm get-together at the Horseshoe in Southport. It’s a great successor to Ye Olde Bridge Grille: a funky, friendly place for alumni and friends to meet, have a few beverages, and tell memorable tales.

Saturday (October 13) begins with a 1 p.m. tailgate at The Hill. Sandwiches, donuts and coffee are provided for alums; feel free to bring more. It will be a fun, sociable hour before the 2 p.m. kickoff of …

Staples vs. Darien. Both teams are off to strong starts this year. The match should be a great one. At halftime, there’s a group photo on The Hill.

Right after the game, alumni and their kids are invited to play an informal (but classic) pick-up match on Loeffler Field.

The days ends with a party for Staples soccer alumni at the home of Dan Donovan (adults only). If you were at the 50th celebration, you know it’s not to be missed.

Any alums who have not gotten an Evite invitation to the festivities should email dwoog@optonline.net.

It’s a weekend to celebrate. Whether you’re a former player, an alum’s parent or sibling, or just a friend of the program: We look forward to seeing you this weekend!
