New Season — And A New Scoreboard
Fans at Loeffler Field this fall will see something new under the sun.
That is, they’ll be able to see the scoreboard lights without being blinded by the sun.
A new scoreboard — with easy-to-view LED lights — was installed recently. The boys and girls soccer programs each contributed half to the cost.
Wrecker fans will see it in action for the first time on Wednesday, September 2, in a 4 p.m. scrimmage against South Kent.
The old scoreboard — installed in 1998 in a ceremony attended by former coach and Staples soccer founder Albie Loeffler — will enjoy a second life. A “For Sale” sign went up on StaplesSoccer.com. The Gudis family responded — and it now hangs proudly on a fence in their back yard.
