Meet Sam New: Wreckers’ 2017 Tweeter
Staples soccer has a new live tweeter — literally.
Rising senior Sam New fills the big shoes left by last year’s excellent tweeter, Reid Rizack.
New is an old soccer hand. He played in the Westport Soccer Association travel program through 7th grade, when he gave up the sport to concentrate on ice hockey. (He’s captain of the Wreckers’ team.)
But he played this summer in the Watermelon Cup league. He’s been to international matches. He looks forward to keeping Staples soccer’s hundreds of Twitter followers (@StaplesSoccer1) up to date with real-time match coverage, along with info on upcoming games, behind the scenes news and more.
Sam will also be in charge of Staples soccer’s Instagram account (StaplesSoccer) — an added bonus.
In his spare time, Sam works at Sunny Daes ice cream.
