Alums Invited To Special October 7 Game, Events

Saturday matches are special at Loeffler Field. But this year’s October 7 contest against Stamford promises to be especially noteworthy.

The 2 p.m. game will be preceded by a brief dedication of the “Etched in Stone” project. Conceived by friends and family of Drew Tursi — the ardent Staples soccer fan and brother of Brad Tursi ’97, who died this winter — and facilitated by their fundraising efforts, “Etched in Stone” will memorialize former players who died young. Their names will be engraved in the granite block “S” on the terrace at the top of the Hill.

All alumni are invited. After the match there will be a classic pick-up game, for all alums who bring their boots.

The varsity match should be a great one. The Wreckers should field a strong team this season.

And, of course, the alumni are always ready to play too.

Names of alumni will be etched around the Block “S.”
