Wreckers Add Glastonbury Scrimmage On Wednesday

When bad weather knocked out both the Newtown and Glastonbury pre-season scrimmages, it looked like Staples would have only 3 opportunities for warm-up matches.

Then Ridgefield postponed its match against the Wreckers, after starting school late due to Hurricane Irene — pushing opening day back to Friday, September 16.

But Glastonbury — a perennial state powerhouse, and one of the Wreckers’ best rivals — agreed to travel to Westport for a scrimmage, filling that open date of Wednesday, September 14.

The match is set for 4 p.m., at Loeffler Field.

“Mark Landers is a great guy, and a good friend,” said Staples head coach Dan Woog.  “We love playing quality teams, and we really appreciate his team coming down.  We look forward to a great game.”
