Ross McGibney ’06 Returns To College Soccer

Nicky Hoberman captains the Union College squad.

There are now 11 former Staples soccer players — a full squad — angling for spots on college soccer teams across America.

The most recent addition is Ross McGibney ’06.  After 2 years as the Wreckers’ junior varsity coach, he returns to action at Southern Connecticut State University.

In his 1st scrimmage, the former captain scored 1 goal and assisted on another against Columbia University.

Five players from the Wreckers’ 2009 state champion squad hope to join the ranks of illustrious alums:  Matteo Marzoli (Fairfield), Michael McCarthy (Washington University), Drew McNair (Trinity), Alan Reiter (NC State) and Mike White (Delaware).

In addition, Mike Noonan ’79 enters his 1st year as head coach at Clemson University, following 14 great seasons at Brown University, while his former assistant, Ken Murphy ’76, begins his 2nd campaign as head coach at Connecticut College.

Good luck to all the Wreckers in the college ranks!
