Charlie Leonard, Yousef Shahin Earn College Soccer Spots

Charlie Leonard and Yousef Shahin are taking their talents from Loeffler Field, to their new college teams.

Leonard — the hard-charging, versatile Most Improved Player Block “S” winner last fall — secured a spot on the Union College squad.  He joins a long list of former Wreckers who played there, while current Union teammate Stowe Simonton is the son of Bob Simonton ’81. As a sophomore, Bob made a fantastic save to help the Wreckers win the state championship against Greenwich.

Shahin, a midfielder/defender who won the Loeffler, Coleman Brothers and Dan Woog scholarships, has already scored during Clark University’s preseason. Yesterday he started, and had 2 key assists.

The two ’14 graduates join 5 other Wreckers already in the college ranks. James Hickok returns to the Dartmouth college goal after a stellar rookie year; Court Lake is back at Middlebury; Brendan Lesch’s Notre Dame squad is fighting to retain its national championship; Alan Reiter is set for his final year at Davidson, and Steven Smith can be seen nearby, for Southern Connecticut.
