Dear Parents and Friends of Staples Soccer:

Staples boys soccer is coming off its 12th State Championship, back-to-back FCIAC titles and a season-end ranking of #6 in the NSCAA/adidas national poll.  Our boys soccer program is back on top, and another exciting season is upon us. Despite graduating 11 seniors, we have 13 seasoned underclassman poised to make a run at title # 13, and rising stars from our undefeated junior varsity and freshman teams ready to contribute at the varsity level.

It is now time to kick off our 3rd year of the Top of the Hill Team – the Staples Boys Soccer Booster Club.  Thank you to the more than 150 who have chosen to join or renew their membership in the first two years.  Your support continues to be critical in providing our teams with the necessary and critical resources not provided by the athletic budget.  In 2 years, in addition to making a founding contribution for the establishment of the Preston Hirten Memorial Scholarship Fund and supporting several scholarships funds honoring members of the Staples soccer community, we have supplemented the athletic budget by over $50,000 to provide our teams with the following:

• Additional coaching resources
• New uniforms
• Facility improvements including the refurbishment of the kickboard and Terrace the Hill benches
• High definition video equipment and a technician to film and provide players with highlights for prospective college coaches
• Transportation to state tournament games for our “Superfans,” and JV & freshman players
• Emergency medical and safety equipment
• Winter gym time at Bedford for voluntary training with young alumni
• Payment of referee fees in the summer leagues

 Coaches Dan Woog, Kurt Dasbach, Tom Henske and Chris O’Dell are excited to welcome Dan Dias, who has joined the Staples coaching team as the new JV coach.  Dan coached the U-17 Majic Premier team, and was the freshman and JV coach at Central High School.

Please renew your membership or join for the first time. The executive board and the coaches are convinced that the additional resources provided by our members have contributed significantly to the success of our program and the enhancement of the Staples soccer experience for the players. Our goal is to have 100% participation of our current players and all alumni, who are able to contribute.  Our alumni, the backbone of our tradition, continue to increase participation.  The benefits to our teams are exponential with your support – just look at last year’s records of ALL of our teams!  Without contributions from Top of the Hill, we cannot continue to maintain nor grow the critical resources provided to our teams.  Please scroll down and join the team today, and remember: All donations are tax deductible through our affiliation with the Westport Soccer Association.
